Consulting with Families
Identifying SEN:
The views of family members and pupils are highly valued at Huntingtree. Once a referral has been made to the Inclusion Lead, views are sought to provide a historical and holistic portrait of the child.
Prior to any referrals to external agencies, families (and where appropriate pupils) will be informed of the process and purpose, and provided with the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
A discussion with parents/carers will take place before a child is added or removed from the SEN register.
Keeping Parents Informed:
Parents/carers of a child receiving SEN Support are kept informed of their child's support and learning by their Individual Education Plan (IEP). This plans are reviewed half-termly, with copies of both the previous plan - with evaluated targets - and the next plan shared electronically with parents/carers.
Parents/carers of a child who has an Education and Health Care Plan are consulted with in line with the Annual Review process.
