Huntingtree Early Years phase is made up of a nursery and reception. All staff, across the phase, are positive role-models to children at all times. They demonstrate how to make and maintain respectful relationships to ensure a happy and safe ethos is achieved.
We believe in a very structured approach to teaching and learning. We explicitly teach all children how to listen attentively and engage in lessons, whilst acknowledging what is appropriate to their age and ability. We pride ourselves on the high expectations set, particularly during more formal times of the day. Teachers spend most of their time teaching and continuously inform Learning Support Assistants of what children need to learn next. This creates a continuous cycle of ‘assess, plan, teach, review’ which ensures pupil progress. We strive to achieve a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities that ensures children learn and have opportunities to apply this learning.
